GOLDEN EAGLE
It`s live in the Iberian Peninsula, in the Basque Country, in the mountains of Araba and in the Pyrenees.
Lives in high and green areas
It is a large, dark brown raptor with broad wings (1,80-2,30 m wingspan). The back part of the head, of the neck, and the interior part of the wings are golden. It has got a yellow and black beak, and yellow legs. It is strong and elegant.
It hunts its food, mainly hares, rabbits, marmots and other ground squirrels (little mammals, birds and reptiles also).
The golden eagle mates for life. In spring, the female lays up to 2 eggs and incubates them for 45 days. Normally, only one of the chicks survives.
The causes for being endangered are: human hunting, poisoning, the destruction of their nests, and the destruction of their habitat.
