Alpine Newt

It's name is:

Hi, I'm Alpine newt

The Alpine Newt lives in Central and South Europe, on the North of Iberian Peninsula and in Italy.

It Lives in forest with good access to water in hilly and mountainous regions

I also, live in forest

In"Cantabria", there are 16 individuals/m2

We live in Cantabria

It is small.It has got a long tail. During the mating season the males exhibit dark-blue colouring on their backs, and their bellies are bright orange, and the females are brown and have some spots.

It feeds on invertebrates, for example: crustaceans and gastropods.

Help, help! She is going to eat me!

Mmmm... there are delicious, I love invertebrates

It lays the eggs one by one, on aquatic plants. The tadpoles leave the water after 2 month. A curious thing is that in the sexual intercourse they don't touch together.

Alpine newt, catch prey using sight and smell.The biggest of the males can reach up to 9 cm, and the females up to 12 cm in length.

The Alpine newt is in danger of extinction because of the habitat loss .

I want save Alpine newt and that's why I'm going to write a letter to the government of the basque country. On the letter I have to explain my arguments and give examples. When my letter is finished, I'm going to start getting the sings as many people as I can. And finally I'm going to send my letter to the person who is encharge.
