In 1932, after a period of retirement following her second marriage, she was ready to take on the vocally challenging role of Isolde in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. In 1933 and 1934 she sang small roles at Bayreuth, and in 1935 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City as Sieglinde in Die Walküre

Belonging to a family of professional musicians, he studied music first with his mother and later in the Norwegian capital, where he learned singing. In 1913 he made his debut as a soprano, after which he worked mainly as a light soprano, singing oratorios, operettas and opera.
