THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

But we come on a ship they called Mayflower We come on a ship that sailed the moon We come in the ages' most uncertain hours and sing an American tune.Paul Simon.

In the xv century King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella sent explorers across the oceans to find a western route to Asia. One of these men was Christopher Columbus. He arrived in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492. There he met people who painted their bodies and wore animal skins. Originally, they were wrongly called Indians. Today they are called Native Americans. It's been a not so long history compared to other countries, but its impact has been really big.

STARTING POINT

After Christopher Columbus, other explorers came to this new world in search of land and resources...

... In 1609, and Englishman called Henry Hudson became the first explorer to sail up a river that is now the Hudson River in New York City.
